CCTV cameras captured footage of him wandering near the Ganga canal during nighttime hours.

Meerut:

A 26-year-old newly married man who disappeared on his wedding night while experiencing mental stress was discovered in Haridwar after three days, according to police statements released Tuesday.

Mohsin, also known as Monu, a resident of Unchhapur within Saradhana Police Station jurisdiction, vanished on the evening of November 27.

He left his home claiming he needed to purchase a light bulb but failed to return, which prompted his concerned family members to report him missing to local authorities.

Surveillance footage later revealed him walking near the Ganga canal at night, creating fears among family members that he may have taken his own life by drowning. Despite extensive search efforts, authorities found no trace of him for two days.

On Monday, Mohsin contacted his father using a phone borrowed from a passerby in Haridwar, informing him that he was safe and wished to return home.

A police team from Meerut, accompanied by his father and other relatives, traveled to Haridwar where they located Mohsin near a railway station.

During police questioning, Mohsin revealed that he had become overwhelmed with anxiety on his wedding night and impulsively boarded a bus to Haridwar, where he spent three nights wandering around the station area.

Saradhana Station House Officer Dinesh Pratap Singh told PTI that Mohsin had reportedly consumed "something" at the suggestion of friends earlier that day.

"He may have taken some type of medicine on his friend's advice, which caused his restlessness," the officer explained.

Circle Officer Ashutosh of Saradhana confirmed that Mohsin has been safely reunited with his family.

"He appears to be naturally anxious by temperament. He didn't provide any specific explanation. There's no need to investigate further into someone's personal matters," he added.

The family expressed profound relief upon his safe return.
