Unemployed Man Murders Wife Over PUBG Addiction: A Tragic Case of Gaming and Domestic Violence in Madhya Pradesh

A tragic incident occurred in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh where a 24-year-old woman named Neha Patel was allegedly murdered by her husband Ranjeet Patel. The crime reportedly took place after she confronted him about his unemployment and excessive time spent playing the mobile game PUBG.

Police reports indicate that Ranjeet allegedly strangled his wife with a towel late Saturday night before fleeing the scene. The couple had only been married for approximately six months before this tragic event unfolded.

Investigators revealed that Ranjeet was heavily addicted to PUBG, which had become a frequent source of conflict between the couple. His gaming habit, combined with his unemployment status, had caused significant tension in their marriage.

Following the murder, Ranjeet reportedly sent a message to Neha's brother-in-law stating that he had killed her and telling the family to "take her back." When family members rushed to the couple's home, they discovered Neha unresponsive and immediately alerted authorities. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

DSP Headquarters Udit Mishra confirmed the homicide, stating: "The body was found inside the house with visible strangulation marks on the neck. The husband is absconding. Preliminary investigation suggests frequent disputes over his addiction to PUBG. Statements have been recorded, and efforts to arrest the accused are underway."

Additional allegations have emerged from Neha's family, who claim that Ranjeet and his relatives had been regularly demanding dowry. According to family members, Ranjeet had requested a car even after previous financial demands had been met.

In a statement to reporters, Neha's brother Sher Bahadur Patel expressed frustration with the pace of the investigation, saying: "No arrest has been made yet. My sister was married on May 25 this year. The accused kept demanding dowry and recently stopped working. When she asked him to find a job, he fought with her and killed her. After murdering her, he texted my brother-in-law and said, 'Take her back, I have killed her. Do whatever you want now.'"

He further called for action against the entire family of the accused, stating: "Not only the husband but his father, mother, brother, and sister-in-law should also be arrested. They all harassed her. We want justice."

Police officials have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with multiple teams deployed to locate Ranjeet. The victim's body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
