The woman was discovered deceased at her family residence in Tadepalli, Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Her parents forced entry into the bathroom when she didn't emerge after an extended period, only to find her hanging.

"Madhuri Sahitibai (25), daughter of an IAS officer, was found dead at her parental home on Sunday after previously making dowry harassment allegations," confirmed Mangalagiri DSP Murali Krishna to PTI.

Authorities have registered a case under Section 80 of the BNS, which addresses dowry deaths.

Police investigations revealed that Sahitibai had developed a romantic relationship with Rajesh Naidu from her village in Bugganapalli in Betancharala Mandal of Nandyal district. She had previously discontinued her B Tech studies due to academic challenges.

She married Naidu on March 5 and informed both families of the union on March 7, with the marriage being officially registered afterward. However, several months later, she reportedly contacted her parents claiming she was experiencing dowry harassment, which prompted them to bring her back to their home in early September, according to police reports.

Her parents stated that she willingly returned with them and had been residing at their home since that time.
