Police have initiated an investigation into the tragic case of a teenager's suicide in Thane district.
A 19-year-old young man allegedly committed suicide in Maharashtra's Thane district, with police reporting that mental distress over his family's request to delay his marriage appears to be the cause.
The tragic incident occurred on November 30 in Dombivli area, according to authorities.
The deceased, who hailed from Jharkhand, was romantically involved with a girl from his hometown and had expressed his desire to marry her.
However, his family members had urged him to wait until he reached 21, the legal marriageable age for men in India, which reportedly caused him significant emotional turmoil, according to an official from Manpada police station.
On November 30, the young man allegedly took his own life by hanging himself from the ceiling of his residence using a scarf.
Family members subsequently rushed him to a nearby medical facility, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Authorities have registered the case as an accidental death and have begun a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the official confirmed.
