Jaipur:

The CID Intelligence Wing of Rajasthan Police has achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a Punjab youth in Sri Ganganagar district for espionage activities on behalf of Pakistan's ISI, officials announced on Monday.

The suspect has been identified as Prakash Singh, also known as Badal (34), from Punjab's Ferozepur district.

He was detained while wandering in proximity to a military installation in Sri Ganganagar.

Officials reported that the accused had been transmitting photographs and videos to Pakistan and tracking Indian Army movements.

CID Intelligence Inspector General of Police (IGP), Praful Kumar, revealed that Prakash Singh, originally from Bhamba Haji village in Ferozepur district, had maintained consistent communication with ISI handlers in Pakistan through social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp.

The IGP stated, "The individual had connections with the ISI since Operation Sindoor. He regularly sent images and videos documenting Army activities across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Gujarat—including vehicle movements, military installations, bridges, roads, railway lines near border areas, and new construction projects."

According to IGP Kumar, Badal created WhatsApp accounts using other individuals' mobile numbers by acquiring their OTPs.

Pakistani handlers subsequently utilized these accounts for espionage and other anti-national operations. Badal received substantial financial compensation for these activities.

On November 27, authorities reported suspicious behavior near the Sadhuwali military zone in Sri Ganganagar.

The Border Intelligence Team subsequently apprehended the suspect.

Examination of Badal's mobile phone revealed conversations with multiple Pakistani phone numbers.

He was later transferred to the Joint Interrogation Centre in Sri Ganganagar and subsequently to Jaipur, where various intelligence agencies conducted interrogations.

Digital evidence confirmed his involvement in espionage activities.

On December 1, authorities registered a case under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, at the Special Police Station in Jaipur, and formally arrested Prakash Singh alias Badal.

Investigations continue to determine the extent of the network and identify additional accomplices in Rajasthan and Punjab connected to the accused.
