'They Wanted SUV': UP Woman Found Hanging, Parents Claim In-Laws Killed Her

A case has been filed against a woman's husband, father-in-law, and other family members following her suspicious death.

In Saharanpur, a 26-year-old woman was discovered hanging in suspicious circumstances at her in-laws' residence, police reported on Monday.

According to officials, the woman's parents have alleged that her in-laws, who have fled the scene, murdered her over dowry demands. They also claimed that the DVR of the CCTV system installed in the house is missing.

Station House Officer Satendra Nagar stated that Deepanshi was found dead inside the house in Rampur Maniharan. Her father, Charan Singh, alleged in his complaint that his daughter had married Vishal from Bhura Colony on March 2 this year.

Vishal works as an advocate, while his father Rajendra serves as a sub-inspector currently posted in Bijnor.

Singh claimed that despite providing a Maruti Dzire car, jewelry, and other items during the wedding, the in-laws were demanding a Scorpio SUV and had been threatening Deepanshi with severe consequences if their demand wasn't fulfilled.

On Sunday, the complainant, who was undergoing medical treatment in Chandigarh, received a call informing him of his daughter's death.

When the woman's family members arrived at her in-laws' residence, they found her unconscious with no one present at the house. She was transported to a primary health center, where medical staff pronounced her dead, according to police.

Based on Singh's complaint, Officer Nagar confirmed that a case has been registered against the woman's husband, father-in-law, and other family members.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the investigation is ongoing. The cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report becomes available.
