A man seeking a digital signature for his pharmacy certificate was reportedly subjected to severe physical assault within the premises of the Madhya Pradesh Pharmacy Council in Bhopal.
The victim, identified as Tushar Sunar, had been regularly visiting the Council office for more than a month in attempts to obtain a digital signature on his certificate. On Friday, upon approaching the registrar's cabin, he was informed that she had left for lunch. After waiting several hours without her return, when Sunar attempted to access the officer's cabin again, a confrontation ensued.
According to Sunar's account, the security guard aggressively grabbed him by the collar and forcefully pushed him, causing him to fall backward and strike a metal channel. Shortly thereafter, multiple staff members emerged, surrounded him, and proceeded to kick, punch, and drag him inside the building.
Following the incident, Sunar released a video showing himself in distress, crying and struggling to breathe. In the video, he stated: "My name is Tushar. Pharmacy Council President Sanjay Jain, KK Yadav, Gopal Yadav and other officials beat me brutally. They dragged me inside and hit my private parts, I was bleeding. I beg the Chief Minister to take action."
The footage of the attack spread rapidly online, prompting police to register an FIR against Pharmacy Council President Sanjay Jain and other officials involved.
A counter case has also been filed against Sunar, with accusations of obstructing government work and assault, based on allegations made by a Pharmacy Council employee.
In response to the incident, ABVP organized a protest at the Council office, calling for Jain's resignation, while NSUI workers entered the premises and defaced Jain's nameplate while chanting slogans.
