A viral video has sparked widespread concern showing a distressing incident involving police conduct at the Singrauli Collector's office in Madhya Pradesh.

A destitute family, who had spent the night outside the administrative premises seeking justice, was allegedly manhandled and forcibly removed in public view.

The family of Santram Shah from Kasar village had arrived at the Collector's office after enduring a night on the footpath outside. According to Santram, on November 28, the village Sarpanch sent a JCB machine to destroy their wheat crop and initiated unauthorized road construction on their property.

Desperate for assistance, the family, which included women and young children, immediately fled their village to the district headquarters, hoping to receive administrative help the following morning.

When they attempted to present their grievance to the Collector, police officers arrived at the location. Footage shows a young man from the family being seized, dragged, and forcibly placed into a police vehicle. Female family members can be seen begging and weeping for assistance while children cry out, but officers continued their actions regardless.

While the family sought justice, an FIR was simultaneously being lodged against them at Bargawan police station. At 10:45 am on Saturday, an individual named Keshari Lal Sahu filed a complaint alleging that around 11:00 pm on Friday, while constructing a road on Jagjivan Ram Vaishya's field, Santram Sahu, Satish Sahu, and Suresh Sahu appeared, obstructed the path, used offensive language, and threatened his life.

Based on this accusation, police took action against the family inside the Collectorate premises.

When questioned about the family's removal, Joint Collector Sanjeev Pandey stated, "I do not know that these people were here all night. The Collector was in a meeting and met them immediately after the meeting. I do not know why they were taken to the police station." He added that officials were escorting the family to the disputed land for investigation.

Meanwhile, Singrauli Collector Gaurav Benal refuted claims that the administration refused to meet with the family. He maintained that they had already met him on Friday and that the land they claimed ownership of was under illegal occupation. According to his statement, the family had used abusive language during an altercation with the Sarpanch, resulting in the FIR.

The Collector also indicated that police attempted to take the family to the station because a case was already registered against them but denied any mistreatment occurring.

He assured that the situation would be investigated and appropriate legal action would follow.
