Woman Abducted and Sexually Assaulted by Three Men in Kolkata: Police Investigation Underway

Kolkata:

A 28-year-old woman was forcibly dragged into a vehicle, compelled to consume alcohol, and sexually assaulted by three men on the Eastern Metropolitan bypass in Kolkata, West Bengal, according to police reports on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday night, and a formal complaint has been filed at the Pragati Maidan Police Station.

Law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation into the case and are actively searching for both the suspects and the vehicle involved in the crime.

The victim has been admitted to SSKM Hospital for medical treatment.

Police sources reveal that the survivor is married and resides in Kolkata.

Around 9 p.m. on Friday, the woman was waiting for an app-based transportation service at a bus stop in the Pragati Maidan police station jurisdiction along Eastern Metropolitan Bypass.

According to the victim's statement, a car approached with three individuals inside. One of the assailants was reportedly known to her, as they had been in communication for approximately three months.

When the vehicle stopped, the woman was violently pushed inside against her will.

In her verbal statement to police, she alleged being forced to consume alcohol that was laced with narcotics before being physically abused.

Subsequently, the perpetrators dropped the survivor in the Maidan area and departed.

The woman was found in a distressed condition and transported to SSKM Hospital.

Currently, the survivor continues to receive medical treatment at the facility.

Hospital authorities notified police about the incident.

Officers from Pragati Maidan police station visited the hospital and documented the victim's statement.

A case has been registered against the accused individuals based on the survivor's complaint.

"We are actively searching for the three suspects. According to the complaint, the young woman was forcibly abducted into the vehicle and subjected to torture. One of the perpetrators was previously acquainted with the victim. We are optimistic about apprehending the accused individuals soon," stated a senior Kolkata Police officer.
