New Delhi:
As investigations into the Delhi blast intensify, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has discovered Rs 18 lakh in cash from Shaheed Saeed's room number 22 at Al-Falah University. Saeed is among those accused in the Delhi blast near the Red Fort on November 10, which claimed at least 15 lives and left numerous others injured.
Room number 22, formerly an ordinary accommodation at Al-Falah University assigned to Shaheen Saeed, has now become central to the Delhi blast investigation. On Thursday, NIA officials escorted Saeed to various campus locations - her living quarters, office, and the classrooms where she taught.
The recovered cash was found wrapped in plastic and concealed inside a closet. Investigators are currently working to determine the source of these substantial funds.
Saeed appeared in court today alongside other accused individuals - Muzammil Shakeel and Adeel Ahmed Rather.
When Shaheen Saeed and her co-accused purchased a vehicle with cash, it raised further suspicions. Shaheen Saeed and Muzammil Shakeel acquired a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza, reportedly among thirty-two vehicles being prepared to transport explosive materials or deliver bombs, according to sources close to the investigation who spoke with NDTV last week.
A photograph obtained by NDTV shows Saeed and Shakeel posing with their new silver Brezza at a showroom on September 25. Sources indicate they paid for the vehicle entirely in cash.
The Brezza, registered in Haryana as HR 87U 9988, was discovered parked at the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre campus in Haryana's Faridabad.
The investigation has uncovered what appears to be a terror plot involving romantic partners. Following two failed marriages, Saeed encountered Muzammil Shakeel, a Kashmiri doctor, at the university. Regular interactions, collaborative work at the college, and their similar professional backgrounds strengthened their relationship.
During questioning, Shakeel disclosed that they married in September 2023 at a mosque near Al-Falah University, with him providing a mahr (mandatory Islamic marriage gift from groom to bride) of approximately Rs 6,000.
As they began living together, Saeed was introduced to student groups and started participating in religious activities.
During these gatherings, she was reportedly approached by members of Jamaat ul-Mominaat, the women's wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), who investigators claim began training Saeed in radical ideologies and terrorist doctrines.
Using her medical credentials, Saeed reportedly traveled between Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, and Haryana, facilitating fund transfers and message deliveries.
Saeed was allegedly appointed to lead the India branch of Jamaat ul-Mominaat, an organization headed in Pakistan by Sadia Azhar, sister of JeM founder Masood Azhar.
The ongoing investigation revealed that Saeed was responsible for forming a team of five "terror doctors," according to sources familiar with the case who spoke to NDTV on November 21.
Saeed and two colleagues - Muzammil Shakeel and Adeel Ahmed Rather - have been arrested in connection with the Delhi blast probe. All three doctors have had their medical licenses revoked following the incident.
Umar Mohammad, also known as Umar un Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor and suicide bomber who drove the white Hyundai i20 car, was also affiliated with Al-Falah University.
