Hyderabad:

Hyderabad is introducing a cutting-edge technological solution to tackle one of urban India's most persistent challenges: vehicle parking. Anyone who has struggled to find parking near the iconic KBR Park, a popular destination for fitness enthusiasts, understands the frustration. The chaotic roadside parking, encroachments on footpaths, and resulting traffic congestion may soon become history.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to inaugurate today the city's most innovative urban development: a state-of-the-art multilevel smart parking facility strategically located at KBR Park.

This revolutionary parking system features an automated, vertical rotary mechanism. Imagine a massive, space-efficient carousel designed for vehicles. The high-tech solution rotates vertically in a continuous loop, efficiently moving cars into compact storage slots while maximizing available space.

Implemented through a public-private partnership, this mechanized innovation represents Hyderabad's first such installation in a public area, specifically designed to address urban congestion issues. The remarkable facility accommodates 72 cars within its compact footprint, using minimal urban land. Additionally, it provides dedicated spaces for two-wheelers.

Reflecting Hyderabad's technological advancement, the facility features RFID-enabled entry and exit systems, ensuring smoother and faster access. It's also designed with the future in mind, incorporating designated EV charging points that support the city's transition toward greener mobility solutions.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan highlighted that the system would provide significant relief by reclaiming footpaths for pedestrians and ensuring smooth traffic flow around one of the city's busiest corridors. Karnan emphasized that safety remains a top priority for this parking system.

The facility incorporates load-balance sensors, smart locking mechanisms, CCTV surveillance, and emergency systems to ensure vehicle security. Residents can utilize the parking facility with peace of mind between 5 am and 11 pm daily.

The GHMC envisions replicating this successful model across other high-density and congestion-prone urban areas throughout the city.
