Senior BJP Leader Shot in Broad Daylight Attack in Bihar's Khagaria: Police Investigation Underway

Unidentified assailants attacked a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in broad daylight in Bihar's Khagaria district on Friday, highlighting a serious breakdown in law and order, police officials confirmed.

The violent incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Gangaur police station, where the victim, Dilip Kumar, sustained a critical gunshot wound to his chest.

Nearby residents immediately transported the injured BJP leader to Khagaria Sadar Hospital, where medical staff administered first aid and declared his condition extremely critical.

Due to the life-threatening nature of his injuries, doctors promptly referred Kumar to a specialized medical facility for more advanced treatment.

Dilip Kumar holds a prominent position within the BJP's Khagaria organizational structure, having previously served as General Secretary and currently functioning as a Mandal Working Committee member.

The attack on this influential local political figure has sent shockwaves throughout the party ranks and intensified concerns among local residents about public safety.

The victim's wife recounted, "I received a phone call from him where he simply stated that someone had shot at him."

Following news of the shooting, family members rushed to Sadar Hospital to assess Kumar's medical condition.

Sundar Paswan, the officer in charge of Gangaur police station, emphasized that securing proper medical treatment for the victim remains their immediate priority.

"We have not yet received any formal written complaint from the victim's family. Nevertheless, police have initiated an investigation and are conducting raids to identify and apprehend the perpetrators," he stated.

"We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects. We are also awaiting the victim's recovery so we can record his statement, which will be crucial for identifying the attackers and potential motives behind this assault," Paswan explained.

This brazen daylight attack on a political leader has reignited concerns regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Khagaria district.

Local citizens are demanding immediate action from state authorities and the swift arrest of all individuals involved in this violent crime.
