Police in Karnataka's Bidar have arrested a woman for deliberately pushing her six-year-old stepdaughter to her death from a building terrace.
The tragic incident, which occurred on August 27, was initially reported by the child's father as an accidental fall. He claimed the girl had fallen from the three-story building's terrace while playing, leading authorities to file an Unnatural Death Report (UDR).
The investigation took a dramatic turn on September 12 when a neighbor provided crucial CCTV footage revealing the truth. The video showed the stepmother, Radha, taking the child to the terrace under the pretense of playing together. Once there, Radha positioned the girl on a chair before pushing her off the terrace and hurriedly returning inside.
According to police, Radha's motive stemmed from insecurity regarding her husband's relationship with his daughter from his previous marriage.
Following the evidence, authorities filed a formal FIR and took Radha into custody on Sunday.
