Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic reception in Zagreb as he made a historic visit to Croatia on Wednesday, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Balkan nation. Upon reaching his hotel, Modi was greeted warmly by members of the Indian diaspora who welcomed him with chants of "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai," alongside traditional Indian dance performances.
The welcome ceremony featured a notable cultural exchange when a group of Croatian citizens, attired in white, joined PM Modi in reciting the sacred 'Gayatri Mantra' and various Sanskrit verses, demonstrating the cultural connection between the two nations. This meaningful moment was shared on the Prime Minister's official X account.

"In Zagreb, I interacted with some members of the Indian community, who accorded me an unforgettable welcome. There is immense enthusiasm among the Indian community here about this visit and its impact in making the bond between our nations stronger than ever before!" Modi stated on X.
In a special diplomatic courtesy, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic personally received Modi at the airport.
The prime minister arrived in Croatia following his visit to Canada, where he participated in the G7 Summit and conducted meetings with various world leaders. Prior to Canada, he had visited Cyprus as part of his international tour. (With inputs from PTI)
