New Delhi:
Pakistan attempted to disrupt the Indian delegation's visit to Malaysia by invoking Islamic solidarity, but Malaysian officials firmly rejected Islamabad's interference, according to top sources who spoke to NDTV. Despite Pakistan's embassy urging Malaysian officials to cancel the Indian delegation's scheduled programs, their efforts proved unsuccessful, and the delegation received complete support from Malaysia. All planned activities proceeded without interruption. This development is being interpreted as a significant diplomatic rebuff to Islamabad.
The Indian delegation was headed by JDU MP Sanjay Jha and included BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah and Hemang Joshi, along with Trinamool's Abhishek Banerjee, CPM's John Brittas, Congress's Salman Khurshid, and former diplomat Mohan Kumar.
Sources revealed that Pakistan attempted to derail the delegation's itinerary by raising the Kashmir issue, but this approach failed to gain traction.
In addition to Malaysia, the delegation led by Sanjay Jha visited Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. This was one of seven delegations sent abroad to expose Pakistan's involvement in terror attacks on Indian territory and to communicate India's position following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 27 innocent lives and Operation Sindoor, India's retaliatory action.
The delegation led by Sanjay Jha returned to India today. Speaking to news agency IANS, Mr Jha stated: "We visited Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Four or five key points emerged from our visit. First, the all-party delegation sent by the government conveyed a powerful message that the entire country stands united against terrorism. Second, countries worldwide unequivocally condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and expressed condolences for the 26 victims who perished in the massacre. Third, India targeted only terrorist centers and camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir with restraint and precision strikes. Fourth, flights have resumed in Jammu and Kashmir, and the Cabinet meeting was held in Pahalgam to assess the situation on the ground. We urged that action should be taken against Pakistan by the FATF (Financial Action Task Force). The delegations have delivered a strong message against terrorism."
CPM's John Brittas commented, "Our mission was to sensitize other countries and convey the message that they must support India in its fight against terrorism."
BJP's Aparajita Sarangi expressed satisfaction at returning home, stating, "Over the past 14 days, we visited five countries... One thing we feel is that every country stands with India and strongly condemns terrorism."
