Five individuals accused in the death case of popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg have been sent to 14-day judicial custody in Baksa district jail. The suspects, including Northeast Festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta, were previously in CID custody as part of an ongoing investigation into Garg's drowning during a Singapore yacht party on September 19.

Eight Singapore-based NRIs failed to appear before Assam's CID by the October 6 deadline in the investigation of celebrated Assamese icon Zubeen Garg's death during a yacht party. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the invocation of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with Singapore while expanding the probe to examine financial irregularities related to the Northeast India Festival.
Four Arrested in Zubeen Garg Death Investigation as Murder Charges Added to Case

The Assam Police Special Investigation Team has arrested four individuals in connection with singer Zubeen Garg's death, including his bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta. Murder charges have been filed as investigators examine video evidence from the yacht party where the 52-year-old singer was found floating face down after going for a swim during the North East India Festival.
