Delhi experienced significant air pollution on Diwali morning with AQI reaching 335 in the "very poor" category after a night of firecracker use. The Commission for Air Quality Management implemented Stage II of GRAP as pollution levels worsen, with forecasts predicting further deterioration to "severe" levels. Despite Supreme Court restrictions allowing only green firecrackers during specific hours, air quality monitoring stations across Delhi-NCR recorded alarming pollution levels, prompting Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to urge residents to celebrate traditionally to minimize environmental impact.
