Taiwan's T-Dome: The $40 Billion Air Defense System to Counter China's Military Threat

    Nov 30, 2025 11:45 am CST

Taiwan has proposed a $40 billion defense initiative focused on building the "T-Dome," an integrated air defense system designed to protect against Chinese fighter jets, missiles, and drones. President Lai Ching-te is accelerating this multi-layered defense network, which will combine existing systems with advanced technology to create a comprehensive protective shield. While drawing comparisons to Israel's Iron Dome, T-Dome must address a broader range of threats and aims to be operational by 2033, with significant progress by 2027.
