In Jammu and Kashmir's first Rajya Sabha elections since becoming a Union Territory, the National Conference won three seats while the BJP secured one amid allegations of strategic cross-voting. The contentious fourth seat went to BJP's Sat Sharma, sparking claims of horse-trading from defeated NC candidate Imran Nabi Dar. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah maintained his party remained united while questioning how BJP secured four additional votes beyond their 28-member strength.
