A 52-year-old forest department watcher named Kalimuthu was tragically killed by a wild elephant while conducting a tiger census in Kerala's Attappadi forest range. The incident occurred when a three-member wildlife team was confronted by the elephant, with two officials escaping with minor injuries while Kalimuthu, a native of the Nellipathi tribal settlement, lost his life in the encounter.
