The Election Commission of India has issued show-cause notices to eight Booth Level Officers in West Bengal for distributing voter enumeration forms at tea stalls and local clubs instead of following the mandatory door-to-door protocol during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The action came after multiple complaints from political parties, with officials from Cooch Behar and North 24 Parganas districts among those cited. A new 24x7 helpline has been established to report similar violations as the ECI works to ensure transparency in the voter list revision process.
