The Israeli Defence Forces has stated that India's recognition of Hamas as a terrorist group would be beneficial, highlighting shared security concerns between the two nations. Following the devastating October 7, 2023 attacks that killed over 1,200 Israelis and led to a major military response in Gaza, IDF spokesperson Lt Col Nadav Shoshani emphasized the importance of clear stance on Hamas, which remains undesignated as a terrorist organization by India despite being classified as such by numerous Western countries.
