Bodo Tribal Students Storm BTC Secretariat Protesting Scheduled Tribe Status for Six Assam Communities

Thousands of Bodo tribal students in Assam's Kokrajhar region stormed the Bodoland Territorial Council secretariat during a massive protest against the state cabinet's approval to grant Scheduled Tribes status to six additional communities. The protesters, concerned about dilution of their rights and reservation benefits, damaged property at the secretariat after marching six kilometers from Bodoland University. Security forces have been deployed as demonstrations are expected to intensify with more tribal organizations joining.
BPF Secures Landslide Victory in Bodoland Territorial Council Elections with 28 of 40 Seats

The Bodoland People's Front (BPF) led by Hagrama Mohilary has won a decisive victory in Assam's Bodoland Territorial Council elections, securing 28 out of 40 seats. Previous ruling parties UPPL and BJP were relegated to distant second and third positions with seven and five seats respectively. This election represents a significant shift in political power following the 2020 Bodo Accord.
