Fresh snowfall has blanketed the Indo-China border region, causing temperatures to drop dramatically across Sikkim. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert as heavy to very heavy snowfall affects Nathula Pass, Kupup, and Tsomgo Lake areas.
