India and Russia Partner to Manufacture SJ-100 Aircraft: A Milestone for Indian Aviation Industry

In a historic collaboration, India's Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) and Russia's PJSC-UAC have agreed to produce the SJ-100 twin-engine narrow-body passenger aircraft in India. This landmark project marks India's first passenger aircraft manufacturing venture, supporting the UDAN regional connectivity scheme and advancing the country's self-reliance in civil aviation. The initiative is expected to meet India's projected demand for over 200 regional jets in the next decade.
