Supreme Court Declines Contempt Action Against Lawyer in Chief Justice Shoe-Throwing Incident

The Supreme Court has refused to initiate contempt proceedings against Advocate Rakesh Kishore who attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India BR Gavai. While acknowledging the gravity of the incident, Justices Surya Kant and Joymala Bagchi respected CJI Gavai's decision to pardon Kishore. The Court will focus instead on developing guidelines for handling and reporting such incidents, expressing concern about the glorification of the attack in media and social platforms.
