    Sikkim has launched battlefield tourism by opening the strategically significant Cho La and Dok La passes along the India-China border. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated this initiative that aims to promote border area tourism, create local livelihood opportunities, and raise awareness about military sacrifices. The passes, including Dok La which witnessed a 2017 standoff, are now accessible through affordable two-day tour packages with basic facilities for tourists.

    Fresh snowfall has blanketed the Indo-China border region, causing temperatures to drop dramatically across Sikkim. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert as heavy to very heavy snowfall affects Nathula Pass, Kupup, and Tsomgo Lake areas. Meanwhile, the National Biodiversity Authority has released funds to support local biodiversity conservation efforts in the region.
