The Assam government has initiated a formal investigation into the drowning death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing that India has invoked the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty with Singapore to facilitate the investigation. A 10-member Special Investigation Team has been formed, while over 60 FIRs have been filed in connection with the tragic incident that occurred during a yacht trip prior to Garg's scheduled performance at the North East India Festival.
