Microsoft has terminated access to certain Azure cloud services for an Israeli defense unit after confirming reports that these services were being used for mass surveillance of civilians in Gaza and the West Bank. Following a two-month investigation prompted by a Guardian report, Microsoft president Brad Smith stated that the company found evidence supporting the claims while emphasizing their commitment to not facilitate civilian mass surveillance technologies.
