The Supreme Court has denied Vikas Yadav's request to extend his interim bail in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case, where he is serving a 25-year sentence. Yadav, son of politician D P Yadav, sought bail for marriage arrangements and to pay his Rs 54 lakh fine. The bench dismissed his plea, remarking it would lead to endless extension requests. Yadav was convicted alongside his cousin for murdering Katara over an intercaste relationship with Yadav's sister.
