Starting November 15, India implements new toll payment regulations requiring vehicles without FASTag to pay double fees for cash payments and 1.25 times the rate for UPI transactions. This amendment aims to promote digital payments, improve traffic flow, and enhance toll collection efficiency across national highways. The NHAI's FASTag system, which uses RFID technology for automatic toll deduction, has expanded significantly since becoming mandatory in 2021, with its annual pass option already reaching 25 lakh users.
