Cyclone Montha: Odisha Evacuates Vulnerable Areas as Severe Storm Approaches Eastern Coast

The Odisha government has launched evacuation efforts in eight southern districts as Cyclone Montha intensifies in the Bay of Bengal. With 128 disaster response teams deployed and aiming for zero casualties, authorities are preparing for extremely heavy rainfall and winds up to 80 kmph before the cyclone crosses the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28-29. The IMD forecasts the storm will reach severe cyclonic status with wind speeds potentially reaching 110 kmph.
