India's aviation regulator DGCA has fined IndiGo Airlines Rs 40 lakh after discovering the carrier trained approximately 1,700 pilots using flight simulators not qualified for critical airports like Calicut, Leh, and Kathmandu. Two separate penalties of Rs 20 lakh each were imposed on IndiGo's Director of Training and Director of Flight Operations for regulatory non-compliance, with officials given 30 days to pay or appeal the decision.

India's largest airline IndiGo has been penalized Rs 20 lakh by aviation regulator DGCA for failing to use qualified simulators in pilot training for Category C aerodromes. While the company plans to contest the order and maintains this will not affect operations, it continues to dominate the Indian aviation market with a 64.2% share despite recent slight decline, followed by Air India group at 27.3%.
