A medical investigation in Jharkhand's Chaibasa town has confirmed five thalassemia-affected children tested positive for HIV following blood transfusions. The state-appointed team, led by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, discovered irregularities at the Sadar Hospital blood bank and has ordered immediate corrective action. West Singhbhum district currently reports 515 HIV-positive cases and 56 thalassemia patients under care.
