80 Deaths in Assam Police Encounters and Custody Since 2021: Official Assembly Report

Assam state minister Rupesh Goala informed the Assembly that 80 people have died in police custody or encounters since 2021, with 39 deaths in police custody and 41 before court appearances. Additionally, 223 suspected criminals were injured in police encounters, with magisterial inquiries conducted in accordance with NHRC guidelines for 78 death cases.
