Ladakh's Economy Boosted by GST Reforms: Benefits for Pashmina, Handicrafts, and Tourism Sectors

The government has announced significant GST reforms reducing rates from 12% to 5% on authentic Pashmina, handwoven woollens, Thangka paintings, and local agricultural products from Ladakh. These changes aim to enhance competitiveness of traditional crafts, support over 10,000 nomadic herders, boost tourism through reduced hotel tariffs, and strengthen markets for products from 6,000 farming families engaged in apricot cultivation and processing.
