Alarming Rise in India's Dowry Deaths: 14% Increase in Cases and Over 6,100 Lives Lost in 2023

According to the National Crime Records Bureau's 2023 report, India witnessed a concerning 14% increase in dowry-related crimes, with 15,489 cases registered nationwide. Uttar Pradesh reported the highest number at 7,151 cases, while the death toll reached 6,156, highlighting the persistent social crisis despite legal prohibitions against the practice.
