The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved a significant reservation policy reform allocating 50% of government jobs to the general category. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's cabinet has forwarded this decision to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for final approval. The policy aims to address concerns from the general category population, which constitutes 70% of residents but previously received less than 40% of government positions under central rule.
