Five children with thalassemia in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district tested HIV-positive following blood transfusions, prompting Chief Minister Hemant Soren to suspend the district Civil Surgeon and other officials. The state government has formed an investigative medical team and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to each affected family along with covering all treatment costs.
