India is developing the Tuticorin Outer Harbour in Tamil Nadu into a world-class transhipment hub to reduce dependence on foreign ports. This strategic maritime initiative, along with a ₹30,000 crore shipbuilding project, will create 55,000 jobs and strengthen India's position in global shipping, according to Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
