India has granted licenses to several companies including Continental India, Hitachi, and Jay Ushin to import rare earth magnets from China, providing relief to the automotive and electronics industries. These first clearances since Beijing's export restrictions in April come with conditions prohibiting re-export to the US or use in defense applications, while coinciding with a new US-China agreement on rare earth materials supply.
