An Indian-origin former nurse, Rajwinder Singh, has been convicted of murdering Toyah Cordingley at Wangetti Beach in 2018. After fleeing to India and remaining a fugitive for four years, Singh was extradited to Australia in 2023 to face trial. The Cairns Supreme Court found him guilty of stabbing and burying Cordingley after an argument that began when her dog barked at him. Sentencing arguments will be heard next Tuesday.
