President Murmu Rejects Mercy Plea in Child Rape-Murder Case: Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence

President Droupadi Murmu has rejected the mercy petition of Ravi Ashok Ghumare, convicted of kidnapping, raping and killing a two-year-old girl in Maharashtra in 2012. The Supreme Court previously upheld his death sentence, citing the brutal nature of the crime against a helpless child. This marks President Murmu's third mercy plea rejection since taking office in 2022.
