German Authorities Foil Suspected Islamist Plot to Attack Bavarian Christmas Market

German security forces have arrested five men of North African and Middle Eastern origin suspected of planning an Islamist-motivated vehicle ramming attack on a Christmas market in southern Bavaria. The arrests, made at the German-Austrian border crossing, come amid heightened security concerns following similar attacks in recent years, including last December's deadly incident in Magdeburg.
