Sikkim Opens Historic Cho La and Dok La Passes for Battlefield Tourism Along India-China Border

Sikkim has launched battlefield tourism by opening the strategically significant Cho La and Dok La passes along the India-China border. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated this initiative that aims to promote border area tourism, create local livelihood opportunities, and raise awareness about military sacrifices. The passes, including Dok La which witnessed a 2017 standoff, are now accessible through affordable two-day tour packages with basic facilities for tourists.

In a groundbreaking tourism initiative, 15 luxury supercars including Lamborghinis and Porsches successfully reached the newly-opened Cho La Pass at 14,672 feet along the Indo-China border in Sikkim. This historic "Sikkim - The Silk Route Drive" rally marks the first major tourism activity at this strategically significant location since its recent opening under the Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative.
