Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi was violently detained by Iranian security forces while attending a memorial service for deceased lawyer Khosrow Alikordi. Despite temporary prison leave, the 53-year-old human rights activist was arrested alongside fellow activists in Mashhad. Mohammadi, separated from her children for 11 years and banned from leaving Iran, has consistently defied authorities by refusing to wear mandatory headscarves and predicting the eventual fall of Iran's clerical regime.
